Overview

AskMe AI ("AskMe", "we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our free AI assistant application, available on the web, Android, and iOS.

The short version: We collect minimal data, we don't require accounts, we don't use tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data.

No Account Required

AskMe does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or log in. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number to use the app. Messages and optional reports can contain personal information that you choose to provide.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service:

Device Identifier: A randomly generated anonymous identifier stored on your device to maintain your conversation history. Reports store a hash of this identifier to help prevent abuse; it is not your name or email address.
Chat Messages: Your messages are sent to our servers for AI processing and are not permanently stored. Conversation context is maintained through Azure's Responses API for up to 30 days to enable conversation continuity.
Uploaded Files: Files you upload (images, documents, etc.) are processed in real time for AI analysis and are not permanently stored on our servers. So that you can ask AskMe to edit a photo you attached, JPEG, PNG and WEBP images are also held in server memory for up to one hour, linked only to your device identifier, and are then discarded.
Generated Content: Images, edited images and files that AskMe creates for you, including edits based on a photo you uploaded, are stored on our servers so they can be displayed, downloaded and shared through their links. They are automatically deleted after about 30 days.
Basic Analytics: We may collect anonymous usage metrics (such as feature usage counts) to improve the service. These metrics cannot identify individual users.

Local Storage

Your conversation history, chat threads, and preferences are stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage (web) or SharedPreferences (mobile). This data never leaves your device unless you actively send a message or submit a content report.

Optional Content Reports

When you select Report and send a report, we receive the selected AI response, its preceding prompt, generated content links and chart data, your chosen reason and optional comments, a report reference, conversation reference, app version, and hashed device identifier. Long text and chart data may be shortened. We do not send your entire conversation or upload original attachments again as part of a report.

Reports are stored privately for safety review and to improve content filtering and moderation. Report contents are not published or included in routine monitoring notifications. Reports are retained for 30 days and removed during daily cleanup. To request earlier deletion, contact alifarahnak@gmail.com with your report reference. Unsent reports are not submitted.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

Process your chat messages and provide AI responses
Analyze uploaded files and images for AI-powered assistance
Create and edit images and files when you ask for them
Maintain conversation continuity across chat sessions
Improve the quality and reliability of our service
Review reported AI content and improve safety and moderation

What We Don't Do

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties
We do not use tracking cookies or advertising trackers
We do not build user profiles or behavioral models
We do not use your conversations to train AI models
We do not require or store personal identification information

Third-Party Services

AskMe uses the following third-party services to provide its functionality:

Microsoft Azure AI Services: For AI language processing, image analysis, and image generation. Messages are processed by Azure's API and are subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
Microsoft Azure App Service: For hosting the web application.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data during transmission and processing:

All communications are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
API endpoints are protected with token-based authentication
No user data is stored in databases — conversation context is ephemeral

Children's Privacy

AskMe does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we don't require accounts or collect personal information, children can use the service with parental guidance.

Your Rights

You can manage your data without creating an account:

You can clear your local chat history at any time by clearing your browser data or deleting the app
There is no account to delete since none is created
Conversation data on Azure expires automatically after 30 days

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of AskMe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
